Install Voice Over IP (VOIP) phone service to replace land lines
Voice Over IP lines reduce phone call costs and the equipment consumes significantly less energy than conventional units. The National Renewable Energy Labratory (NREL) has found this practice helps reduce plug load consumption and it can save airports operating expenses. NREL found energy savings of >110 kWh annually power for each phone unit conversion. Maintaining essential phone landlines may be necessary for emergency response situations and in case of internet service disruption.
